High Schooler Meghan Lockett Gets Third At Princeton Invite

Run SMART client Meghan Lockett set a new 3k PR at the Princeton Invite last month. The 16-year-old from Dickerson, MD ran unattached in the college invitational and finished 3rd overall against the older competition. Meghan’s official time was 10:18.1. Meghan Lockett Runs 18:15 At Age 15

Run SMART client Meghan Lockett set a new road PR this past weekend at the Towson Downtown 5k. The 15-year-old from Dickerson, MD won her age group and finished 10th overall out of almost 400 runners. Her official time was 18:15.1, 5:53 per mile. [Full results]

Meghan Lockett Sets Two PRs At New Balance Nationals

Run SMART client Meghan Lockett, 15, of Comus, MD set new PRs in the 1 and 2-mile runs at the New Balance National meet in Greensboro, NC. It was the first time Meghan has ever run two events in one day. She competed in the Emerging Elite Division for Freshman finishing 8th overall in the 2-mile in 11:06.06 and 10th overall in the 1-mile in 5:05.43. [Full Results]

Meghan peaked at exactly the right time of year and shows why she is one of the fastest high school distance runners in the country. Congrats to Meghan and her Run SMART coach Alicia Shay on an amazing season!

Hanging With The Elites At Age 14

Meghan Lockett, at age 14, hung with the top runners at the 24th St. Patrick’s Day 8k in Washington, DC, finishing 9th female overall in a race of 6,841 finishers. Lockett was the youngest competitor in the Top 10 by 10 years! She also managed to crack 30 minutes for the first time at this distance, with an official time of 29:57. Her performance was roughly 30 seconds faster than last year and she managed to set two personal bests by dropping an 18:20 split at 5k! After the race, her coach Alicia Shay said, “Meghan crushed it!”

Meghan Lockett Holds Her Own At U.S. XC Champs

Run SMART client Meghan Lockett held her own against much older competition at the 2012 USA Junior Cross Country Championships in Saint Louis, MO. We’re proud to announce that Meghan finished 24th overall in 23:08 (6:13 per mile) for 6K. She was the second fastest 14-year old in the race as most runners were college freshman or high school seniors. Full Results.

14-Year Old Holds Her Own Against Division I Competition

Run SMART client Meghan Lockett, 14 years of age, competed unattached in the Crimson Classic XC Invitational at the University of Alabama last weekend. She held her own against the much older and experienced female runners finishing 28th overall out of 203 finishers. Her time was 18:24, a 21-second PR for 5k! (Full Results)

It’s difficult enough for a freshman in college (typically 18 years of age) to transition into Division I level competition, but for a 14-year old to jump in a major Division I Invitational and run with the top runners in the field is truly incredible. She’s an amazing talent.
