Run SMART Results – Al Gordon Classic

Run SMART clients Rob Delong and KC Cohen both made great progress at the Al Gordon Classic 4M this past weekend in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Delong set a new personal best by 1 minute, 11 seconds finishing in 33:22 (8:21 per mile). “Rob keeps making progress every week. He’s new to the sport so it’s gonna be fun to see how fast he can go,” said his coach Brian Rosetti.

KC Cohen also had a great day as she climbs her way back from major ankle surgery. She finished in 28:45 (7:11 per mile), which marks the fastest she’s run for four miles since 2006. It was also the fastest pace she’s held in any race since 2008. “KC is now close to full strength since recovering and building back slowly from her ankle surgery but she’s already back to when she was running her fastest times about 6 years ago. I think she will end up running faster than ever has this Spring and Fall,” said her coach Brian Rosetti.

KC Cohen Breaks Personal Best From 2005

Run SMART client KC Cohen set a new 15k PR this past weekend at the New York Road Runner’s Ted Corbitt 15k in Central Park. KC finished in 1:08:12 (7:20 per mile), 31 seconds faster than her previous best for this distance set back in 2005! [Full Results]

“KC is just getting back to normal training after a little post-Chicago Marathon break.,” said her coach Brian Rosetti. “This was a nice bonus considering we were only looking for a long steady effort to prepare for the Manhattan Half next month. She stuck right to the game plan going out in 7:28 bringing her splits down the whole way with a solid last mile of 7:06!”

KC Cohen’s Comeback Continues

Run SMART client KC Cohen ran 1:39:04 (7:33 per mile) at the Brooklyn Half Marathon this past weekend (results). In only her second race since major ankle surgery last year, KC ran three minutes and forty-seven seconds faster than her last half marathon two years ago!

KC’s coach was impressed… “It’s only been about six weeks since I started incorporating quality sessions into KC’s weekly schedules. She’s only gotten up to 10 miles in one run twice since her surgery so this was very encouraging. I expect big improvements to come over the next several months – she’s just getting started,” said her coach, Brian Rosetti.

KC Cohen On The Comeback Trail

Run SMART client KC Cohen ran 45:34 (7:20 per mile) at the Scotland Run 10k last weekend in Central Park. This was KC’s first race in almost two years and her fastest 10k since July of 2008!

“KC had major ankle surgery last March so when she signed up for coaching I cut her training back to spend more time strengthening her ankle and cross training,” said her coach Brian Rosetti. “She’s showed a lot of patience and resilience coming back from a very difficult situation and it’s starting to pay off.”
