Run SMART client Jen Johnston, fresh off her new marathon PR and Boston qualifier, wrote a very thoughtful testimonial about her coach, Blake Boldon. She was kind enough to let us share it with you too. She’s been training with Blake for about one year now and managed to: run injury free, lower her marathon best three times while setting a new PR in every race she entered, and qualify for Boston, her longtime goal. Here’s Jen…
It’s not everyday you can say one of your clients improved their marathon time by 25 minutes in one race. This past weekend in the Eugene Marathon Jen Johnston reached her longtime goal by qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Not only did she reach her goal, she dropped her marathon time by 25 minutes in the process, finishing in 3:37:46 (8:19 per mile). Full results can be found here.
Big congrats to Jen and her Run SMART coach Blake Boldon for this incredible effort.
Congrats to Jen Johnston for picking up a win in her age group at the Friendship Run 2010 in Olympia, WA last weekend. You can check out the full results here. She finished first in the 40-44 age group. Not to shabby after setting two marathon PRs just a few months ago.

Run SMART client Jen Johnston set two marathon PR’s in a matter of eight weeks and it’s safe to say she has a lot left in the tank. Jen entered the year with a 4:23 PR, then at the Chicago Marathon she knocked off a mere 15 minutes running almost perfectly even splits – 2:03:27 at the half and 4:08:25 to finish (full results). Then, just eight weeks later Johnston tried to go after the 4-hour mark at the California International Marathon, where she dropped six more minutes off her PR finishing in 4:02:31 (full results). It’s safe to say she had sub-4 in her too considering starting temps were sub-30 degrees with a head wind of 15 mph.
Big congrats to Jen and her coach Blake Boldon!
