I loved how precise all my workouts/paces were. The plan took the guesswork out of it and gave me a specific goal to aim for. It made me believe that I could do it! – Lana

Even though I’m not running the race this weekend, I was curious about the new NYC Half course, so I ran it on my own! Well, as best I could without official road closures. Here is what I found:
Manage Your Effort Well Early
Miles 1-2: This is going to be a FAST start! Running from the Grand Army Plaza to Manhattan Bridge on Flatbush Avenue is all downhill. Runners should take care to keep their pace in check as they pass by Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.
Danielle Henty of Seattle, WA set a new PR at the Lake Sammamish Half Marathon. Her official time was 1:29:57 placing her second in her age group. [Full Result]
I’ve been following this program for my spring marathon, and today I raced a target half marathon and PR’d!! I blew my estimated time out of the water by 3 minutes and ran a sub-1:30. Super excited, and this whole cycle has been breakthrough after breakthrough. I know I have so much more potential, even at 39 going on 40. I’m a huge believer in this program.
I appreciate your training plan!
Rosa Tavares of Aveiro, Portugal recently shared her progress with our programs…
This first marathon was a big surprise to me. I started running 4 years ago and completed my first half marathon in 2015 in a time of 02:04:44. In 2017, I discovered “The Run SMART Project and Legendary Trainer Dr. Jack Daniels.” In July, I ran my first Run SMART Project program for half a marathon at about 80% and then in October I ran a personal record of 01:51:54.
After this I decided to run a marathon in which the initial goal of the 15-week training plan was to finish in 4-hours. Surprise! In addition to completing my first marathon, I finished it in 03:54:29 and managed the entire distance very well physically.
Thank you Dr. Jack Daniels and the entire team at The Run SMART Project.
Steve Orellana of New York, NY recently shared his progress after following another custom training plan. He set a new PR and finished 3rd place overall at the Queens Half in NYC.
Thanks again for another wonderful training program. I followed the workout schedule as described and was very pleased with my half marathon result at the NYCRUNS Queens Half (Time 1:16:30, VDOT 61.5). [Full Results]
Lorraine Doucet of Orleans, Ontario is currently following a training plan for Boston. This past weekend she tested her fitness at the Winterman Half Marathon.
First of all I’d like to say that I am very pleased with my training program results so far. I just ran a half marathon as part of my Boston Marathon training program and set a new PB by 3-minutes. I finished strong and probably was able to continue running.
Stephen Havas of Vancouver, BC is making big progress while in the middle of his 24-week plan tailored towards the Vancouver Marathon. We love the new PB but the even pacing is great too 😉
Hi coaches, I had a big PB at the First Half Half Marathon on Feb 11. I improved by 3 min from last spring! My official time was 1:16:53, 15th OA and 2nd in my age category. My goal pace was set for 1:17 and I was able to comfortably maintain that the whole race, slight negative time with good kick the last few k. Probably could have finished about 30s faster I figure if I paced slightly faster earlier on but was in unknown territory so didn’t want to risk blowing up. Training plan is working great, amazing results so far!
Román Piñango of Bogota, Colombia improved his half marathon best by over 6-minutes at the Miami Half Marathon. His official time was 1:38:16 (7:31 per mile). [Full Results]

Official race day temp was a balmy 76F which convert’s Román’s time down to a 1:35:41 on a cooler day, according to our VDOT Calculator. Great effort!
