Rowan Jones Wins Saint Ann 5k

Run SMART client Rowan Jones of Waverly, KY won the Saint Ann 5k last weekend dropping almost 2-minutes off his previous best set back in May of 2012. Rowan started working with Run SMART late last year with a 19:04 5k PR. He then set half marathon and marathon PRs on back to back days in January. Now he’s improving his speed after a victory in his local 5k and a new PR of 17:21* (Rowan swears the course was a little short). We appreciate his modesty but this guy is improving like crazy regardless.

Bradley Baker Smashes Goal In 5k

Bradley Baker customized one of Jack’s training plans for a local Turkey Trot 5k later this month with a goal of 24:00. Were happy to announce he already reached his goal and more several weeks in advance at the Run by the Bay 5k in Duxbury, MA. The 60-year-old from Hingham, MA won his age group and finished 17th overall in 22:58. [Full Results]

This isn’t Bradley’s first time running under the influence. He set a half marathon pr back in April too!

Joyce Welch Drops 52 Seconds Off 5k Time


Jack Daniels Training Plan customer, Joyce Welch of Lexington, SC, dropped 52 seconds off her 5k time in just six weeks. She placed 2nd in the Masters division.

Joyce is a few weeks away from her goal race, the Jailbreak 5k, and only 3 seconds off reaching her goal time! Good luck, Joyce!

Seven Years Later Cathrine Wolden Is Still Getting Faster

Run SMART client Cathrine Wolden set a new PR at the NYRR’s Coogan’s Salsa, Blues and Shamrocks 5k. The 41 year old from Pound Ridge, NY was 13th overall and 1st in her age group. Her official time was 18:25 (5:57 per mile), 20 seconds faster than her time last year in the same race! [Full results] We should also note that the first time Cathrine ran this race back in 2006 she ran 23:01 (7:25 per mile). She refuses to stop getting faster.

David Winfield Sets His Second Consecutive 5k PR

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer David Winfield of El Macero, CA set another PR at the Davis Stampede 5k this past weekend. This was David’s second consecutive training plan from Jack culminating in a new PR. He finished in 24:58.

Bill Clugston Sets Second PR In Two Months

Run SMART client Bill Clugston set his second PR since signing up for private coaching this past September. Last month he dropped 12 minutes off his 10k best and recently had a 2:42 improvement on his 5k time at the Wobble To Gobble 5k in Auburn, WA.

David Winfield Cuts 1:16 Off 5k Time

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer David Winfield of El Macero, CA set a new PR this past weekend at the Davis Turkey Trot 5k. Winfield’s personal best before starting his 12-week plan was 26:40 set last November. We’re proud to announce that he smashed his PR and beat his goal of 26 minutes! [Full results]

“The race went well,” said Winfield. “It was a rainy windy day, but I finished in 25:24 and felt pretty good doing it. The 8:12 pace was a little off the target pace, but still a big PR.”

Meghan Lockett Runs 18:15 At Age 15

Run SMART client Meghan Lockett set a new road PR this past weekend at the Towson Downtown 5k. The 15-year-old from Dickerson, MD won her age group and finished 10th overall out of almost 400 runners. Her official time was 18:15.1, 5:53 per mile. [Full results]

Sarah Hay Sets New 5k PR And Near Perfect SAT Score

Run SMART client Sarah Hay set a new 5k PR this past week. The high school junior from San Ramon, CA ran 19:32, almost one full minute faster than her best time when she signed up for coaching last year. More importantly, she told us that she just found out that she got a near perfect SAT score, only 10 points shy!

Danny Tateo Wins Age Group At Armonk 5k

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Danny Tateo won his age group at the Armonk 5k and finished 2nd place overall. The 47-year-old from Armonk, NY finished in 17:42 on a very hilly course. [Results]

Afterwards, Danny said, “Thanks for getting me in such great shape. When it came time to toe the line I was full of confidence.”
