Another Boston Qualifier

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Janet Williams ran the Richmond Marathon this past weekend. Her goal when she signed up was 3:45, two minutes faster than her best set last year in Chicago. After the race she shared her results,

“I took 5 minutes off of my last marathon in Chicago (3:47:55) and have a new PR. I finished in 3:42:29 so another Boston qualifier for me!”

‘Since Following Your Training Plan I’ve Set PR’s In Almost Every Distance!’

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer, Tia Stone of Searcy, AZ, set a new PR at the Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Marathon after NYC was canceled. She won the 30-39 age group and finished fourth female overall. [Full results]

After the race Tia showered us with praise which we’re very thankful to share, “Thank you Run S.M.A.R.T.! I started following your marathon training plan in July. Since that time I have set PR’s in almost every distance! My new half marathon time is 1:28 and this past weekend I ran a 3:11 marathon. I will definitely be using Run S.M.A.R.T. again as I train for Boston!”

When Tia customized her plan back in May she had PRs for the half and marathon of 1:32:37 and 3:15:17.

Jack Kennedy Sets New PR At Manchester City

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Jack Kennedy, of Simsbury, CT, set a new PR at the Manchester City Marathon this past weekend. Jack was scheduled to run New York City but luckily made a quick switch after it was canceled. It paid off – almost a 5 minute PR on a hilly course! Jack ran almost perfectly even splits throughout finishing in 3:24:03. [Results]

Tricky Tanksley Sets 34 Minute PR, Qualifies For Boston Marathon

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Tricky Tanksley set a new PR at the Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Marathon this past weekend. Tricky was scheduled to run the NYC Marathon but made a last minute switch after it got cancelled. When she signed up for her plan she had run three marathons all over four hours. We were super excited she was able to find a another marathon let alone PR by 34 minutes – on a trail course too!

After the race, Tricky sent us a note, “Thanks to a great training plan set up by Vince Sherry, I was able to qualify for Boston today by running a 3:27:33 marathon!! That’s a PR by 34 mins:)”

Manlio Vecchiet Sets PR At Columbia Gorge Half Marathon

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Manlio Vecchiet of Seattle, WA set a new PR at the Columbia Gorge Half Marathon. Manlio’s PR when he signed up was 1:27:35. On an extremely challenging course with 1,200 ft of elevation gain, he still managed to PR running 1:25:07 for 8th place overall. [Full results] Even more impressive was his pacing job. His split at the halfway mark was 43:05 so he ran slightly faster the last 6.55 miles.

Alex Conn Sets PR, Qualifies For State Championships

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Alex Conn, a junior at Beloit High School in Kansas, set a new PR and qualified for the Kansas State Championships this past weekend. Last year Alex finished 5th in 17:15 on Kansas University’s Rim Rock, a very tough course with steep hills and turns. This year he was runner-up in 16:15 and closing on the winner towards the end of the race. His coach said afterwards, “Today, Alex ran out of his mind.”

Michael Gibson Sets Two PRs Under The Influence Of Coach Jack Daniels

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer, Michael Gibson of Glen Ellyn, IL, set a new PR at the Chicago Marathon. While following his plan Michael also managed to set a new half marathon PR as well.

After the race Michael sent us his results, “Thanks to my customized Run S.M.A.R.T. Project training plan, I set a PR at this year’s Chicago Marathon with a time of 3:33:57. This beats both my two previous marathon times of 3:57:12 (October, 2011) and 3:45:25 (February, 2012).  I also set a new Half-Marathon PR of 1:40:06 (September, 2012), beating my previous best of 1:43:03 (April, 2012).”

Michael is determined to work his way down to a Boston Marathon qualifier (3:05) and we’ve worked out a good long term game plan to help him get there. It’s going to be exciting to watch his progress.

George Oliver Cracks 3-Hours For The First Time

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer, George Oliver of Hopedale, MA, customized his plan for this year’s Chicago Marathon determined to crack the 3-hour barrier. His PR coming into the race was 3:01:58 set this past May. After running nine marathons in the past three years he’s managed to very impressively chip his way down from a 4:09 debut.

After the race George emailed us, “I am thrilled as I ran a PR by 5 mins and broke through the 3hr mark. The plan you put together worked well…particularly I felt the workouts in the plan prepped me well. Thank you so much for your support and helping me achieve a personal goal.”

George’s official time was 2:56:48. More impressive was how he paced himself. He ran almost perfectly even the entire race with a half split of 1:28:00. Full results.

George Paul Sets 20-Minute PR At Steamtown

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer, George Paul of Fairfax, VA, customized his plan for this year’s Steamtown Marathon. He set a goal of 3:30 with a PR of 3:52 set last September. His mileage was low for his last marathon so we made an adjustment and… we’re excited to announce that George smashed his PR finishing in 3:32:34. Results.

After the race George sent us a message with our favorite part in bold, “I love you guys. I got a 20-minute PR and finished in 3:32:34 (8:05 pace). More importantly, I felt strong the entire race and the hills at the end were “manageable”. Next, you guys are going to get me to Boston. Just 8 little minutes to go. :). Thanks again, the higher mileage paid off big time.”
