New PRs At The Boston Marathon

We’re just starting to get results from some of our first customers who purchased the brand new Run SMART Training Plans service. Kim Bogin and Jorge Ospina both reported setting PRs at the Boston Marathon after following their personalized 18-week plans.

Jorge broke 3-hours for the first time finishing in 2:53:27, an 8-minute PR! His previous PR of 3:01 was set back in 2009 and his last marathon finish was 3:13:22. We’re thrilled we could help him make such a huge improvement from his last race.

Kim Bogin ran 3:36, a three minute PR. Afterwards Kim said, “It is the best I’ve ever felt during a marathon. The sufferfest didn’t start until mile 23 but until then I felt great. It was awesome!”

The Results Are In!

Results are starting to come in from our initial Run SMART Training Plan customers. We just got word from Karin that she PR’d by 20 minutes at the Yuengling Half Marathon!

Also, we sent out a customer survey to our first 30 customers a little while back. Here’s some of the feedback we received:

Holiday Gift Ideas

If you’re still struggling to come up with a good gift idea check out our brand new training plans and nutrition consultation services. Both options are great motivators for the annual New Year’s resolution guilt fest. If your friend or family member runs 5ks, 10ks, half marathons or marathons get them a customized training plan for their race. And we highly recommend Alicia’s nutrition packages – her detailed analysis and feedback based on the client’s dietary journal is truly comprehensive.

Avoid that awkward sweater moment (they’re probably not going to like it) and get a gift with real value.

Bringing Jack Daniels’ Coaching Expertise To Runners Of All Levels

Marathon Examiner Kimberly Bogin covered the Run SMART Training Plans on Examiner.com.

Looking to create something that everyone could afford, Rosetti and Sherry got the idea to offer race training plans.   But unlike other training plans available online, The Run S.M.A.R.T. Project plans would be customized for each individual runner, and based on the original schedules and formulas developed by Jack Daniels.

“Jack had filing cabinets at his house full of schedules,” said Sherry.  “He pulled out Jim Ryun’s training schedule from the 1960s and showed it to me.  Every single day.  Every workout.  Every split.”

Run SMART Mentioned On RunnersWorld.com

Peter Gambaccini of Runner’s World, via “Race Results Weekly” was kind enough to mention us and the new Run SMART Training Plans offering.

Legendary Coach Jack Daniels Joins Run SMART Project
As “Race Results Weekly” tells us, the Project is a personalized online coaching service for recreational runners. “Unlike most online generic schedules, the Run SMART Training Plans are tailored to a user’s unique time goals, running history, and lifestyle,” explains spokesperson Sara Hunninghake.

The Making of the Run SMART Training Plans

By Vince Sherry

A couple of years ago I was looking through a schedule that Jack had sent me to prepare for the Carlsbad 5k.  The schedule was similar in format to what you would find in his book, Daniels’ Running Formula, but very different in terms of content.  While I was looking at the schedule I wondered if most runners knew how many different schedules Jack had written over the years.  At the time almost every competitive runner in Flagstaff (along with countless visiting athletes) had received a schedule from Jack for one race or another and no two were the same.
