Hayley Long Wins Gold At Alabama State Games

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Hayley Long is finishing up her third training plan. While following her latest 10k plan from Jack she decided to jump in the 1500 at the Alabama State Games. Why not? She won the Gold Medal and is now 7th in the country in the W40 division!

On a day where temps reached 107 degrees on the track Hayley ran 5:45 in her FIRST 1500M run ever! [Rankings] So…add in an actual 1500M training plan next time, a little more experience and more reasonable race-day temps, and what do you think Hayley could run? We hope to find out soon enough.

Run SMART Featured In Philly Mag

Monday, July 16th is the first day of training on our 18-week marathon training plans if you’re customizing a plan for the Philadelphia Marathon. Philly Magazine’s Courtenay Devlin just signed up for her very own Jack Daniels Training Plan. She interviewed Run SMART Founder Brian Rosetti and writes about the whole process. Check it out…

Using Daniels’ running formulas, the coaches are able to calculate the appropriate training paces to the second for various workouts necessary to keep clients on track to reach their goal. This means no burning out. Avoiding over-training is the key to success in a five-month training block.

The training schedule, according to Rosetti, is the equivalent of a private coach handwriting an individualized plan at half the price.

My thoughts on the cost: Once I opened up the e-mail with my plan, I could see it was legit. The program is not priced much higher than the generic plans Active.com and others offer, and the customization is worth the extra dough.

Lisa Klasman Comes Within 2 Seconds Of Her Training Plan Goal Time

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Lisa Klasman clocked 20:29 at the Kennebunk Beach Classic 5k in Maine, just two seconds off her training plan goal time at the end of 12-weeks of training. This was a 23-second improvement from her performance last year. After the race Lisa said,

Race went very well. I clocked 20:29, almost my 12 week training plan goal time (which you guys set at 20:27). Damn, you guys are good! 😉 My splits were 6:34. 6:48, and 7:05 for the last 1.1 miles. This is the 5th year in a row that I’ve done this and I knocked off 23 seconds from last year. Yippee!!

“No Injuries or Cramping!”

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Michael Hofstetter just sent us results from his 10k goal race. Hostetter broke 1 hour for the first time.

YES! Finally broke 1 hour! Thanks to your plan, was able to complete 10K in 56:37!!!   I’ve been running this same 10K for the last 4 years now, and starting at 1:09, then always finishing close to 1 hour, FINALLY broke the 1 hour, truly, thanks to your plan. Following the race I then golfed 9 holes, felt really strong, and NO INJURIES or CRAMPING!  It’s a hilly course, which is part of the challenge, and the heat was pretty bad, two things, (Hills and Heat), I mentally struggle with, probably if it were 5 degrees cooler or no sun, probably would have finished around 55Min, regardless, very happy with my results, and look forward to a 50Min finish next year!

Thanks again for your plan it has worked great for me, although challenging, I’ve been able to get to almost all of the daily workouts, (except 2 so far since I started), I feel stronger, and I’m not trying to power through stress injuries, your PLANS WORK!

[Full results] Not only did she run her fastest half marathon ever, her split at 10k (52:32) was faster than she’s ever run in a 10k race!

After the race Sarah said, “The plan was great. I loved the speedwork. Thank you! I’ll be signing up for another plan for 5k/10k’s this summer.”

Scot Gray Drops Over Seven Minutes Off 5k PR

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Scot Gray of Atlanta, GA set a new 5k PR last weekend. We asked if we could share his feedback about the race cause we’re as pumped as he is about his progress.

I had my 5K this morning and was targeting 8:20 per mile and my “brutha” you are not going to believe this – I ran this thing in 23:20 or 7:48 per mile pace WINNING 1st place for my age group! It was a smaller race I must say, but who cares, I won! I was hoofing it and am not going to lie, it did push me but I felt strong the whole way through. I can’t believe it, I’m 46 years old and a new runner of about a year and I’ve not gone from a 10 minute mile a year ago for 3 miles, to now 7:48. Your plan has really really pushed me and I just saw the fruits of the labor.

Ed Lowrie Gets Boston Qualifier At O2O Marathon

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Ed Lowrie finished in 3:13:45 at the O2O Marathon. It was 6.5 minutes faster than his goal time and 12 minutes faster than the Boston qualifying standard. [Full results]

After the race, Ed said:

You guys told me that I could do a 3:10. You weren’t far off at all! That qualifies me for Boston, well under the 3:25 required. My body reacted very well to the program, with fewer long runs and more targeted efforts. I’m very pleased with the outcome and surely recommend Run SMART training programs. Thanks so much.
