On November 3rd, Melissa Bell set her 2nd PR in just two weeks. Melissa completed the Down Y Run ½ Marathon in 1:30:02, on the hilly streets of Charlotte, NC. Her half-marathon PR came in the wake of an 8k PR, set at the Dilworth Jubilee just two weeks prior (she completed the equally challenging course in a time of 32:29). Melissa is now training for the Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte, NC on December 8th. Everyone at Run SMART Project wishes Melissa the best of luck in the upcoming event.
Relatively new Run SMART Project Client, Everett Hill, set an 8 minute PR in the half-marathon on October 27th, finishing the race in 1 hour 56 minutes. Everett followed the race plan exactly, splitting even pace for the first and second half of the race. He is now training for the PF Chang’s Rock & Roll Marathon in Phoenix, AZ on January 13th.
On Sunday, October 7th Avi Kravitz did what few could do during the Chicago Marathon… He set a 17 minute PR. The high temperatures for the day (an 88 degree high) made it hard for many athletes to even finish the race. Avi’s initial goal was to break 3:20:00, in the hope that he would be able to get another shot at the Boston qualifier of 3:10:00 early next year. The early pace felt so easy that Avi decided to go on and give it what he had, splitting several sub 7 minute miles along the way. He finished in a final time of 3:10:32, which was good enough to qualify him for the Boston Marathon in the spring.
