Jason Yi of Portsmouth, NH broke his long time goal of breaking 1:40:00 at the Cape Cod Half Marathon. His official time was 1:39:36, over 2-minutes faster than his performance the previous year. [Full Results]
Thomas Streitberg of Singapore set a new PR despite rainy conditions this past Sunday at the New York City Marathon. More impressively, he ran a negative split on a course that gets much harder in the second half. His official time was 3:13:41 (1:37:09 first half, 1:36:32 second half). [Full Results]
Denise Iannizzotto of Lake Katrine, NY has run the New York City Marathon 13 times since 2005. We’re proud to report that in her 13th attempt she ran her fastest and took home the win in the F55 age group.
Denise’s official time was 3:22:45, almost three minutes ahead of her next age group competitor. [Full Results] Her win comes one year after setting a PR and finishing second in the 50-54 age group in the Chicago Marathon.
Edgar Suris of Lake Mary, FL (pictured right with his running guide) has lived most of his life with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). RP is a degenerative eye disease and has rendered Edgar legally blind. RP hasn’t stopped Edgar from competing in races on a regular basis or slowed him down. Just in the past few years he has completed multiple training plans and keeps chipping away towards his goal of sub-4 in the marathon.
Incredible progress from Run SMART coach Rod Koborsi and client. Lee recently set a new PR at the Royal Parks Half Marathon in Hyde Park. Afterwards he thanked his coach:
I finished the Royal Parks Half Marathon today in 1:44:52 and that wouldn’t have been possible without the work you’ve been doing with me. Thank you. I didn’t expected to set new 5k, 10k and Half Marathon records in the same race – but your training has obviously paid off! I’m very pleased.
Ram Kalakkad Ranganathan of Wood Ridge, NJ has been training with our NYC chapter for the past two years. After his first full year of training with us he set new PRs but it wasn’t until the completion of his second year when he transformed into a new runner. Despite the conditions in Chicago Ram still managed to set a ginormous 33-minute PR. His official time was 3:55:02. [Full Results]
It’s unconfirmed but we’re proclaiming David and Mary Beth Ezra as the most improved couple at the Chicago Marathon 😉 Between their two results they shaved 25-minutes off their personal bests. Mary Beth took home bragging rights with a 14-minute PR. Her official time was 3:41:34. David improved by 11-minutes with an official time of 3:19:16.
Tom Brian of Aberdeen, Scotland placed 142nd overall at the Chicago Marathon in a new personal best time of 2:39:24. Despite the conditions Tom managed to run fairly evenly throughout the entire race. His half split was 1:19:27 and he came home in sunnier/warmer conditions in 1:19:37. [Full Results]
Anthony DiAngelus of Odessa, FL overcame the heat and sun in Chicago this past weekend to set a 14-minute PR. He also accomplished his long-term goal of breaking 3-hours with an official time of 2:59:11. [Full Results]
Stephanie Tang of New York, NY toed the line with confidence this past weekend at the St. George Marathon. She started patiently targeting her projected time of 3:46:32 and as the race progressed she got stronger finishing the second half over 3-minutes faster than her first. We’re proud to report that in her 22nd marathon Stephanie ran her first negative split and second fastest ever. Her official time was 3:43:19. [Full Results]
