The Run SMART Project, featuring legendary coach Dr. Jack Daniels, was founded in 2005 by Brian Rosetti and Vince Sherry. The project offers private coaching services to runners of all levels looking to get faster. To date, thousands of runners worldwide have received custom training from Head Coach Dr. Jack Daniels and other Run SMART Project coaches on the VDOT O2 Training Calendar app.

Expertise
Currently, The Run SMART Project has 12 coaches, including Olympians and US National Champions, providing private coaching through the VDOT O2 app.

Jack Daniels’ Running Calculator
In late 2012, TRSP launched the official Jack Daniels’ VDOT Running Calculator as a free mobile web application designed to help runners quickly calculate their racing and training paces. Based on the formulas used to calculate Jack’s world-famous VDOT tables in Daniels’ Running Formula—and previously unreleased formulas to factor in wind, temperature and altitude—the calculator offers runners and coaches an amazing app to fine tune and adapt their training based on weather or altitude conditions. In two years over 1 million users have calculated their training/race paces.

In early 2015, the mobile versions of the calculator were released on Android and iOS.

Running Events
In 2009, TRSP launched the annual Run SMART Running Retreat in the beautiful mountains of Flagstaff, AZ and recently Run SMART High School Camp in Steamboat Springs, CO.

Youth Running Programs
In 2010, TRSP launched Run SMART Kids, a running program for students in 3rd through 6th grade. The 12-week curriculum-based program culminates in a goal race at the end of the program. Held at local elementary schools, Run SMART coaches lead students through lessons and practices designed to ignite an interest in running at a young age.
