Jonathan Giles has showed consistent progress since he started training with us back in 2015. Below he shares how working with a coach allowed him to step up his game. He and coach Jay Bawcom are targeting the Brooklyn Half next week.
“I started running about three years ago when I was 42 and I first used the Run S.M.A.R.T project team with an 18-week half-marathon plan. I enjoyed the structure of the plan and had a good result in my target race. For the last 5-months I’ve had the pleasure of working with Run S.M.A.R.T Project Coach Jay Bawcom directly and have really benefited from the experience.
I like the mix of easy runs and quality workouts – which vary between shorter interval sessions and longer threshold runs – and the fact I can work with my coach to schedule workouts around races I’ve entered. Also, the structure of the workout plans are easy to follow and take a lot of thinking out of training. Just follow the plans and you will improve! Recently, I’ve set PRs in 5K (19:56) and 10K (41:51) with my target half marathon in mid-May. Highly recommended!”
