I Am Ready To Take On My First Boston Marathon

March 29, 2017 By Run S.M.A.R.T. In Clients, Results, Running Calculator, Testimonials /  1

Run SMART client Anthony DiAngelus of Odessa, FL was kind enough to let us share his feedback as he gears up for his big debut at Boston:

I wanted to drop you and the Run SMART Project a line to let you know that my quality training workouts are now complete and I am ready to take on my first Boston Marathon in a few short weeks.

As you may recall, I qualified for Boston during my first marathon using your custom plan (Chicago 2015 – 3:21:23 VDOT 47.7).  Since then, I have used the plan with adjusted paces and Dr. Daniels’ training philosophy to continuously improve while staying injury free.

Here is a summary of my recent activity:

  • I primed my build-up to Boston on 12/4/16 with an 5K assessment race to determine my current fitness level and estimate my training paces. I PR’d, won the Masters Division and “Turned Pro” 😉 with my first cash prize of $100 (19:10 VDOT 52.3).
  • On 1/1/17 started my 15 week 2Q plan with the training paces from the VDOT O2 calculator.
  • On 2/4/17 ran a 10K race (without a taper) which I also PR’d (39:58 VDOT 52). It was a little below expected performance, but the course was a bit hilly and I felt good with my effort and training.
  • On 2/26/17 ran a half marathon race (without taper) and PR’d again (1:26:38 VDOT 53.3).  I substantially outperformed expected performance and felt fantastic afterward!

I’m running strong, ready for my taper and, of course, very excited for the race. I have done it methodically, happily and injury free which is very important to a guy about to turn 47 tomorrow!

Thank you and Coach Daniels again.
