Simon Glendenning signed up for private coaching back in October of 2015. His marathon PR at the time was 3:06. We’re excited to report that the 38-year-old from Victoria, Australia reached his goal by cracking three hours for the first time at the Gold Coast Marathon.
Simon’s official time was 2:56:16 [Full results]. That placed him 157th out of 5,000+ runners. More exciting to us coaches is how he paced himself throughout the race. Afterwards, Simon commented, “I followed your advice and started conservatively, (against the will of every muscle fibre). The 3-HR pacemakers both went past me in the first km, but I monitored my cadence and pace and let them go.”
His splits were almost perfectly even with a 1:27:21 half marathon split. To show you how far he’s progressed consider that before he started working with coach Gary Berard his half marathon PR was 1:26!
Congrats to Simon and Gary on a great race!
