We are extremely excited to announce the release of the Jack Daniels’ Running Calculator. We’ve been working on this calculator for a very long time and are happy we can finally share this amazing training tool with you. Our goal was to create a mobile web application that is easy to use, has a clean/simple interface and training tools to help everyone improve their running.
Jack’s official calculator is a FREE online web application which can be used on your computer, tablet or mobile device. We say “official” because other websites have taken Jack’s copyrighted tables from his book and reproduced them elsewhere without his permission. The calculations for a 3-hour marathoner or above are also based on an updated formula that is more accurate so there will be some discrepancy between the VDOT tables in Daniels’ Running Formula and the calc. The Jack Daniels’ Calculator also includes advanced features, unlike most online, to allow you to adjust your training or racing paces based on conditions such as altitude, temperature and wind.

Legendary Coach Jack Daniels Launches Online Running Calculator
NEW YORK (December 5th, 2012) — The Run SMART Project and legendary coach Jack Daniels have launched the official Jack Daniels’ Running Calculator, a free mobile web application designed to help runners quickly calculate their racing and training paces.
Ever wonder how much wind or heat affected your race result? Unlike most online running calculators, Jack Daniels’ Running Calculator allows users to factor in wind, temperature and/or altitude to calculate the effect on a race performance or training pace.
Based on the formulas used to calculate Jack’s world-famous VDOT tables in Daniels’ Running Formula—and previously unreleased formulas to factor in wind, temperature and altitude—the calculator offers runners and coaches an amazing app to fine tune and adapt their training based on weather or altitude conditions.
“It’s long overdue to have a mobile web application like this that takes into account all of the factors that create a race or training experience,” said Run SMART Founder, Brian Rosetti. “These calculations are based on countless scientific studies by Jack who has updated the formulas to help enhance every runners training.”
Jack Daniels’ Running Calculator is very user-friendly: a user provides a distance and pace, or distance and time, and they’re given a table on how fast to train for various workout types (easy, threshold, interval, etc.) and what their predicted race performances are for various distances. For instance, if a person’s goal time for the marathon is 3:40, and they have a workout coming up with a forecast of 84 degrees, they can adjust their training pace accordingly, (e.g. 4 x 1 mile in 7:42 pace, but with 84 degree temps = 4 x 1 mile in 7:58 pace).
