Heidi, pictured above, winning the Steamtown Marathon for the second time in a course record of 2:39:48 (chip time). We’re excited to introduce her as the latest addition to the Run SMART coaching staff. To date, she is the 11th coach to join the staff.
Meet Heidi Peoples:
- 11-time Division III All-American and 1500-meter National Champion
- 2-time Steamtown Marathon winner and record holder
- 2-time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier
- Marathon – 2:39:48
Heidi currently lives and trains in Scranton, PA where she grew up as a track star. She was an 11-time All-American at Moravian College under Mark Will-Weber, author of The Quotable Runner. After college she continued to work with Coach Will-Weber and has since qualified for two Olympic Trials in the marathon. At the 2008 Trials she finished 28th overall. Since then she has dropped her marathon PR by a few minutes qualifying for the 2012 Trials in Houston next January.
Not only does Heidi bring a wealth of experience to our staff as an elite athlete, she has years of experiencing working with runners privately and on the collegiate level as a cross country coach at Marywood University. Starting today she is offering her private coaching services to runners of all levels through the Run SMART Project and added, “As a wife, mother, high school teacher, runner, and coach, I understand the pressures of everyday life and the challenge of committing oneself to a healthy lifestyle. I truly enjoy seeing those around me believe in themselves and succeed, and I look forward to coaching those who are dedicated to reaching their goals.”
Welcome aboard, Heidi!
