Charlie Hartel signed up with The Run SMART Project to help him prepare for the London Marathon. This past weekend the Manhattanite set a new personal best in London after a few scares (injuries and an erupting volcano) threatened to keep him from the starting line.
Charlie finished in 3:33:12 (8:08 per mile), 4 minutes faster than his previous PR set back in ’02. It’s also important to note that Charlie negative split the race, running his second half 5 minutes faster than his first! He was out in 1:49:09 (8:19 per mile) and came back in 1:44:03 (7:56 per mile)!!!!
Charlie works with Run SMART coach Vince Sherry.
