Best Training Plan Online

We’re proud to make Outside Magazine’s shortlist for “The Best Running Training Plans” online. Even better, we’re the only custom option in the bunch!

There’s a lot of nonsense floating around the internet, and navigating the tides of misinformation poses a continuous challenge. When seeking online guidance for how to prepare for a running race, a poor choice can leave you injured, overtrained, and in the unenviable position of having wasted weeks of your life on bogus advice.

Tomica Čudina Sets 14-Minute PR In Füssen, Germany

Tomica Čudina of Pakoštane, Croatia purchased a 15-week training plan geared towards his goal marathon. We’re thankful he was kind enough to share his result:

I just wanted to inform you I have ran my marathon race yesterday in the city of Füssen in Germany, for which I have been training according to your training plan. I am very happy with my result of 3h 51min, which is a 14-minute improvement.

Ashley Eavenson’s Transformative Season

Ashley Eavenson of Tuscaloosa County capped off her breakthrough Junior season with a new PR at the Alabama State meet this past weekend. She finished 13th overall in 11:46. After the race she said, “that is why I love racing! I felt great and I could have gone faster!” It’s that positive attitude and love for the sport combined with all her hard work and dedication that helped propel her to another level this year.

“Look Kids, Big Ben” And Another PR

Congrats to Neil Curran on the new PR at the London Marathon last month. Neil’s official time was 3:08:03, over 8 minutes faster than his previous best.

Judging by the looks on everyone’s faces in the attached pic can you tell who followed the Run SMART plan from Jack Daniels? 😉

Katie Horton Negative Splits Boston Marathon Course For A New PR

Katie Horton not only set a PR at Boston this year when most struggled in the warm/sunny temps, she ran a negative split on a course that is notoriously unforgiving in the second half. Not only that, she had a blast throughout the race, as evidenced by the pic attached! You can’t beat this recap…

Boston was only my second marathon, so I was quite nervous about pacing, as it’s not my strong suit. And the hotter the forecast got, the more nervous I became, as the only thing I’m worse at than pacing, is running in the heat!  I’m happy to report that not only did I break my previous marathon PR by 8 minutes (3:28!), but I ran my second half a minute faster than my first half on a very hot and windy day!

I think my training plan had a goal pace of 3:26, and I know I’ll get that someday because I felt so strong, but I felt the need to run conservatively at Boston.  Thanks so much for believing in my pace and abilities even when I did not.  This sounds very cliché, but thank you for helping make my dreams come true. – Katie

Marcus Droker Showing Off The New Hardware

Marcus Droker took home 1st place Masters title at the First Coast Parkinsons Run 5k. The 43-year-old from Ormond Beach, FL beat his goal time by 38 seconds, finishing 6th overall in 18:59.

Marcus is currently using his VDOT O2 calendar to improve his 5k/10k speed before he begins following his 18-week custom training plan from Dr. Jack Daniels for the Space Coast Marathon.

Jimmy Carney Finds His 5k Fountain Of Youth

Jimmy Carney was kind enough to share some feedback on his latest race result while following one of our 12-week 5k custom plans from Dr. Jack Daniels. It’s been roughly 15-years since he averaged sub-7 for a 5k!

Wow – I’ve been hit with two awesome surprises today at my first 5K (3.1 miles) race of the year: (1) I finished **2nd** in my age group, which never has happened before (I think that silver is my new favorite color! smile emoticon ); and (2) I averaged less than 7 min. per mile (6:59 to be exact!), which I haven’t done since high school many years ago.

I wanted to thank my peers and coaches at The Run SMART Project and Evanston Running Club for challenging and encouraging me to become a better runner; seriously, today’s outcome was a team effort!

Andy McGhee Rocks The Sandals In Route To 14-Minute PR

Andy McGhee of Southampton, England is about halfway through his 12-week custom training plan from Dr. Jack Daniels and he’s already seeing some big fitness changes.

I was not supposed run any events until the Southampton Half Marathon where I was aiming for a PB around the 1:31 mark, however I got roped into a half marathon this weekend and I smashed my previous PB (1:42:24) in a time of 1:28:14.

This same event last year was the first time I competed barefoot style. Last year I ran 1:55:30. This year I maintained a 6:44/mile average so I’m very happy with the progress.

“I Feel Great And Usually Finish Workouts With A Little Bit Left”

Shannon Siragusa was kind enough to let us share her feedback as she follows her custom Jack Daniels’ 15-week Marathon Plan on VDOT O2. We loved her comments because Jack’s methodology with VDOT is to find the max benefit for the least amount of stress on the body. We know someone is training properly when they allude to the fact that the workouts are hard but doable.

Jose Sanchez Trevino Breaks 3-Hrs In Houston

Jose Sanchez Trevino of San Antonio reached his goal of breaking the 3-hr mark at the Houston Marathon earlier this month. Jose signed up for a 15-week plan with a 3:04:35 personal best hoping he could finally dip under.

His official time was 2:58:56, just two seconds off his VDOT training plan projected time! We obviously didn’t factor in the celebratory finish near the line 😉 Here are the official results. Even more impressive was his even pacing with a 1:29:05 split at the halfway mark. Congrats, Jose!
