Peter Kosgei Sets New 10K PR

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Peter Kosgei (pictured above with race winner and record holder Geoffrey Mutai) set his third PR since signing up for a training plan at the BAA 10k this past weekend. Peter finished 17th overall in 30:51. He negative split the race coming through 5k in 15:35! [Full results]

Make That Seven For Jack

Janet Cherobon-Bawcom qualified for the Olympics last night in Eugene and will be representing the U.S. in the 10k this summer in London. Big congrats to Janet and her coach Jack Daniels. Jack has now officially coached 7 athletes to the Olympics and helped many others make the Team in an advisory role.

Sarah Claire Ahlers Sets Two PRs In One Race

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Sarah Claire Ahlers set two PRs in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. Sarah finished in 1:52:18, a five minute improvement from her time last year. [Full results] Not only did she run her fastest half marathon ever, her split at 10k (52:32) was faster than she’s ever run in a 10k race!

After the race Sarah said, “The plan was great. I loved the speedwork. Thank you! I’ll be signing up for another plan for 5k/10k’s this summer.”

Scot Gray Drops Over Seven Minutes Off 5k PR

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Scot Gray of Atlanta, GA set a new 5k PR last weekend. We asked if we could share his feedback about the race cause we’re as pumped as he is about his progress.

I had my 5K this morning and was targeting 8:20 per mile and my “brutha” you are not going to believe this – I ran this thing in 23:20 or 7:48 per mile pace WINNING 1st place for my age group! It was a smaller race I must say, but who cares, I won! I was hoofing it and am not going to lie, it did push me but I felt strong the whole way through. I can’t believe it, I’m 46 years old and a new runner of about a year and I’ve not gone from a 10 minute mile a year ago for 3 miles, to now 7:48. Your plan has really really pushed me and I just saw the fruits of the labor.

Brad Mason Sets New 800M PR

Run SMART client Brad Mason set his second 800M PR this season in Marysville, KS. The 46-year old extended his lead in the National Masters Rankings finishing in 2:05.10. Mason has been ranked first in the M45 division for almost two months now. [Rankings]

Brad’s Run SMART coach Brian Rosetti said afterwards, “This was only Brad’s second race of the season and he’s now reset his PR twice. He’s got a handful of races coming up so he’s right on track to reach his goal in August at the U.S. Masters Track and Field Championships.”

Monica Diez Silva Drops More Time Off 5k Best

Run SMART client Monica Diez Silva set a new PR and finished first in her age group at the Larry Kessler AIDS 5k Run in Boston, MA this past weekend. Monica was 19th overall in 20:33. [Full results] She has now dropped close to a minute off her 5k time since singing up for coaching in December.

Don Strout Sets 7th PR

Run SMART client Don Strout set his 7th PR since signing up for private coaching. He dropped more time off of his 5k best with a recent finish in 21:04. When Don joined Run SMART last summer his 5k PR was 24:17! #transformation

Ed Lowrie Gets Boston Qualifier At O2O Marathon

Jack Daniels Training Plan customer Ed Lowrie finished in 3:13:45 at the O2O Marathon. It was 6.5 minutes faster than his goal time and 12 minutes faster than the Boston qualifying standard. [Full results]

After the race, Ed said:

You guys told me that I could do a 3:10. You weren’t far off at all! That qualifies me for Boston, well under the 3:25 required. My body reacted very well to the program, with fewer long runs and more targeted efforts. I’m very pleased with the outcome and surely recommend Run SMART training programs. Thanks so much.
